Computer Chat What Internet security do you use on Windows?

Hey guys, just wondering what internet security you people use.

I use Norton Internet Security 2007 and is about to expire in 60 days. If i can't find a free solution that works with vista x64 i might have to renew my copy of norton.

Then a) why did you post in this thread and b) it seems you're only trying to stoke another mac vs windows debate. Have we not had enough of those here in the last few months?

Jake, I don't use a firewall as I'm pretty happy being behind my DD-WRT powered router. I use AVG free AV, but I'm thinking of going back to kaspersky soon

All I'm saying is this is a thread dedicated to windows users. By making statements about the mac (which is completely off topic) you're only going to entice people into arguing about mac security. You've been around here long enough to know what is a catalyst for an argument.

I've got AVG, spybot S&D, AdAware and Windows firewall, and a router. Difficult to say if this is sufficient or not. Used to use Norton, but it did seem a little resource heavy for my liking.

I agree with one of the points that Floris made above actually, I do find the amount of resources that these programs gobble up annoying. Still, that's the price of security I guess. I'd sooner miss a bit of RAM than my bank details!

But I never keep any personal data on my PC that can be stolen and used. That's the only sure way to protect yourself! I also alway keep a HD backup using "Acronis" anyway, so even if my PC is infected. I can restore a choice of HD image back prior to that time of infection.

PS: Who in their right mind would be interested in hacking a Mac? Unless their very, very, very bored with nothing much else to do

As Floris stated, I don't use anti-virus when I'm booted into OSX, nor when I'm booted into Vista. Anti-virus software isn't at all necessary when using the least bit of common sense when browsing the internet.

My OS X is also secured by the hardware firewall and the OS X firewall.
