If it's OK to comment on this thread then I've used EditPlus2 for a long time before switching recently to UltraEdit32. Both are great but UE32 has more options and deals with Arabic script far better than EP2. The best editor that supports Arabic script & the problems of switching between RTL/LTR modes is FrontPage, but I've never used to do anything whatsoever.

I use both, but prefer the column cut and paste of edit plus over ultra edit. Other than that feature, ultra edit rocks (and so does ultra compare)

I'm still hoping that the devs would have their say on this. Years ago they were actively participating in such threads. I guess now they have too much work between their hands to bother with hanging out with the community!

I use Beyond Compare for file comparison and it's outstanding!

I'm currently using the Zend Studio for Eclipse (beta) for PHP, and Dreamweaver for XHTML/CSS (just the text editor component though)

I'm checking out Zend Studio for Eclipse (beta), as Kier pointed it out to me. I'm a fan of integrated IDE's and some of the new work I'm doing now involves more profiling, which Zend Studio has some good support for.

For the longest time I used jEdit for everything (Java & C, back in the day after using Kawa), and still use Textpad for large text file handling (SQL dumps etc), and macros that I don't do via vi/vim/nano etc.

I know one of the other devs used to use ultraedit, not sure if they still do.

Homesite+ is part of the Dreamweaver Suite now.

Unfortunately Homesite+ and the latest standalone version have some horrible bugs, but Adobe refuse to fix them - they haven't actually updated Homesite at all for several years now, so it was time for me to jump ship.

I tried an early version of Zend Eclipse, but it was too buggy - I am still using Zend 5.5...but maybe should see where Zend Eclipse is in development.

I love UltraEdit for all PHP-Things.

For my study, I have to use Eclipse (for C and Java) and it's way too big, especially for little scripts... I dont really like it...

i tried zend eclipse, but i didn't check the thing with the ftp connection

i'm loving it to have my ftp browser on the left side, where i can open,rename and create new files.

so zend eclipse is maybe more powerfull then the old zend studio, but for me its to "new"/to many changed things
