    Jelsoft's future

No announcement discussion thread, maybe this should be moved.

I'm sure Jelsoft will absolutely not go downhill nor will the management become corrupted by the influx of funds and sell out as is the partial tradition as far as a buyout by a larger company goes. But I nevertheless found James's announcement complemented by an avatar featuring a sack of money hilarious.

    That is all.

I didn't even notice the avatar. GRIN. Well, without question, anyone who participated in the acquisition deserves to earn a small fortune... Jelsoft did an amazing job all over these years.

Let's hope that things are not going to change, not now nor in the future. Often people leave their company behind once they got acquired. Maybe not immediately, but perhaps after a year or two.

Remember when AOL snapped blog publisher Weblogs for about $30m back in 2005? Most of the core team have left Weblogs by now, including CEO Calacanis.

I can't wait to see what the future will bring then now that Jelsoft has more resources at their disposal.
Congratulations on the death of vBulletin, Internet Brands.

Let's just be content if it goes anyway near like what James outlined.
History is riddled with optimistic acquisition announcements followed by an less that ideal end-result (from the perspective of the consumer).

I do hope this turns out well and that the additional resources will result in great news for all of us in the near future.

I want Kier to stay as a development manager, I can't imagine how vBulletin will be developed without his relieving view.

I'm really afraid, will the prices get increased?

Winamp followed the same fate IIRC.

I'm hardly trying to be optimistic. I hope that vBulletin's policy of "visible source" not to be touched.

                  Wish Jelsoft all the success.
You're spending millions of dollars on a website?!

It looks like Internet Brands is looking to hire a PHP Developer with experience with vBulletin for their California office. Who knows if they are looking for someone to work solely on vBulletin, but they mention it.

                        I'm really optimistic.
It's not the company but but the people who work for that company that make the software and as long as the Jelsoft team takes care of vBulletin nothing bad will happen.
                        That's the end of that!

I hope they do not change how we get our upgrades or the price of it. Stress is upon me... I will wait to see which way it goes.

I'm a cynic but we'll wait and see I guess, investment in the brand, expansion of the product line up and consistency in existing services and support is on the cards, I hope. Fingers crossed.
