Why do the vB staff close threads so much?

...these boards would be a much better place if they didn't. It seems like you can't say anything here worthwile without the thread being locked.

I'm sure this thread will be locked/deleted too. Wouldn't that be ironic?

You know, if users would use the search function a lot more then they haven't to close so many threads

Most threads are closed due to duplicate posting or sometime because a poster is showing as unlicensed. Generally we're very tolerant on the posts made in this forum and only close when we feel it necessary to do so.

The ones you see in 'Chit Chat' forum in recent days, are just people not restraining themselves. It is easy to attack a person if they are not in arms lenght... literally speaking. If you can not see them, then people tend to freely argue without limits.. well until Moderators place a muzzel on the offender {infraction} or simply closed thread.

You really seem to think the world revolves around you Jake.

A thread is not closed based on the name of the person posting in the thread, but because of the content.

I have never see a discussion forum letting users talking that freely about anything even about competition products like this forum here on vbulletin. I found even sometimes that there could be a more stricter forum moderation than there is actually. Moderators do their job very good on vbulletin.com.

It's a nice place to be - especcially if most of us have their own forums

Gonna take this thread off topic:

Creepshow: What did you think of the 3rd creepshow installment? I don't feel it was up to par with the original 2 and I miss the crypt keeper.

If you have 56 points, that is discrasful, shouldn't you change your ways?

I once got my thread closed because I posted pictures of something interesting, the pictures were hosted on my server, Floris thought I was advertising it?

I tried to PM you Floris but you disabled PM's.

That should be taken privately and not in public forums. Floris always answers my pns immediately.

To dispute moderator actions feel free to try sending a PM to Steve Machol or open a new support/sales ticket within your members' area. I indeed have privmsgs disabled, I limited it to staff/buddylist only. So I wouldn't get bothered with pre-sales/support questions from members on the site who instead should use the forum for that. Sorry if that inconveniences you.

This is a professional business forum, not your average community.

How can I take it privetly if Floris has disabled PMs?

Open a support ticket labeled "For Floris".
You're spending millions of dollars on a website?!
