    Smoking ban in the UK

    Hi,

There was a smoking ban in the UK from 1st July 2007 and I think its a great idea as when I goto the pub or night club again I wont come out at the end of the night smelling like an ash tray.

I don't smoke so I don't care but my mother said this to it: "If they try to stop me smoking in my own car I will tell them to **** off"

      Think they mean public places.

It is not fair when I am a none-smoker and you get some moron smoking next to me and I have to breath in all there smoke.

Yeah, but you have no idea how hard it is for a smoker to stop do you?

My mother & father have tried nearly every single type of stop smoking thing in the country, it just does not work.

I use to smoke when I was 19 for about 2 years but I quit and have never smoked since.

They had this come in effect in Canada a while ago. A good call.

That's why you don't start in the first place.

I would smoke, but I'm physically sick when I do.

The practice of putting the ingredient in tobacco and cigarette paper to make it burn continuously should be banned.
Imagine if an ingredient was put in coffee (or any beverage) that made it evaporate in 7 minutes once the lid was opened!
It's crazy but I've never heard of any objections to this and thousands of fires and deaths result from people falling asleep smoking in bed.

The only reason people don't actually quit smoking is that they lack the "will power" to go without the nicitine high they get when they smoke. It may not be "easy" but it can be done if the person actually wants it enough.

                            Regards,
                            Slappy

It's RIDICULOUS this smoking ban has been brought in.

Apparently people can no longer think for themselves, they must be babysat by a namby-pamby big brother government. It makes me sick.

And for the record, I'm not a smoker myself.

Drinking causes much more trouble, so I guess that'll be banned next.

Pathetic. Utterly pathetic. Makes me ASHAMED to be British.
