    IPB new look

I've just seen noticed that IPB (http://forums.invisionpower.com) has got a new style, thought they moved from version 2.2.2 to 2.3.0. (vB 3.6 should had something like that).

What you think of the new style?

New? It looks like a new color scheme, not a new style.

Seems very uninviting to me. Black and Gray can mean sophistication but for me this color scheme doesn't do it.

First thing that pop'ed into my mind:

            "Have the images loaded?"
            then
"I'm glad I do not have to put up with this theme"

I don't like it these colors. I think blue is the most suitable for message boards.

Their old style was terrific, I'm not sure quite they're going with the new colour scheme. I agree with Wayne, it doesn't quite seem to pull off what it's trying to do.

I am not impressed with that new skin. Looks very unprofessional and uninviting. Almost a step backwards if you ask me. There other skin was more original.

I have to agree their 2.0.x/2.1.x theme was my favourite.

looks like a digital graveyard.... but then again I do not particularly like the stock vBulletin style either

The announcement says it was built to be easily modified. I think it serves that purpose pretty well. Any admin should be able to change the entire color scheme in minutes.

I'm a bit confused as to why they are using it as the default skin on their own forums, though. The old skin is still being developed. This new one, apparently, is only meant for admins who need to switch things up easily. I don't see the benefit of using such a dreary and depressing skin as the default for their companies own forums. I'm guessing maybe it's just temporary to show it off for a while.

Remove the gradients (4) of the Main CSS of vB, and you have the same thing.. add child styles to this parent, and you can make unlimited different styles by just changing a few main css class values. This has been in vBulletin since version 3

You don't have to remove the gradients even, you can change the StyleVars to point to alternating directories for different gradient images to match up.

I don't like the style on IPS company forums, but thankfully I am not a customer their and I don't have to care about what they do. I use vB and will certainly stick to that.

Really blocky, no real flow to it.

I remember someone posted a study that said blue is the most inviting color. I forget the details so I cannot confirm what I have just said.
