People always complain that the default skin of vB is outdated. They don't realize that it's only a platform that you can build on and change it to whatever you want. The sites above are great examples of what you can do with vB template system By far, it is one of the most thoughtful system I've ever dealt with.

I'm working on a few plugins and mods to turn vbulletin into a shopping cart for subscription services - In this instance, for web hosting services.

I'm going to use vbadvanced for the main section; vbulletin to provide support forums, I've also been evaluating the project tools for usage. The main subscriptions part will use the default vb subscriptions setup with some plugins to manage cpanel accounts based on information provided to vbulletin itself.
                      Some of my Mods:
Advanced IP Ban Manager (vb3.6+ version) - Fine grained control over blocking trouble makers.
Advanced IP Ban Manager (vb4 version) - Fine grained control over blocking trouble makers.
Use Original thread for Comments - Uses the original thread for comments for any forum threads promoted to CMS articles.
Custom Friendly Urls - Allows customisation of forum urls from the admin CP.

I've turned several of my forums into a Roleplaying System.

Similar to posting, except there is an added "Post As Character" menu on New Thread/Reply/Quick Reply and the postbit is switched to display Character Info instead.

The Character Menu is linked to the Roleplay Character Management system which allows my users to create an infinite number of characters to post as within the Roleplaying forums.

And no, I do not look forward ot upgrading this system when 4.0 comes out.

I had to do several plugins for the datamanagers, as well as modify both the thread and post tables, in order to get it to work right. (I still loathe vB_DataManager_FirstPost for this very reason, it proved to be the biggest PITA of them all)

You can see it in action here.

You can also see where one of my users forgets to choose a character when she posts, and a small bugs emerges.

Yes it sure is, who ever looks after the site design sure knows there stuff. From what I've seen it's faultless is all browsers I've viewed so far to view it in the past.

Star Wars: The Old Republic. An upcoming MMPORG from LucasArts and BioWave.

No new functionality but the design is super stunning, IMO.
