    I just made a startling discovery (at least for me )

    You can use Google Docs to convert between Microsoft Doc format and other open source formats like OpenOffice. You can also create documents to be stored on Google's server and you can collaborate with other people on your documents. This "Google Doc" web application is a very nice surprise for me. I invite you all to have a look:

        you can use openoffice or a plugin for word aswell to do that
