    What makes Wikipedia so popular?

Lakhs of good keywords rank top on wikipedia compared to any other site (even quite old in age). Wikiepedia traffic is growing immensively specially with google giving very high weight to wiki content.

Maybe googles next new article directory....

It's content is very detailed, and is really kept up to date..
Since its launch in 2001 it has really grown, i wouldnt be surprised if it was the most accessed site of it's kind..

It collects information from every where - important or not. It contains pages about some unfamous singers in my country, and alot of information about my town.

It's pretty simple. It's the #1 resource for information at the moment and in most cases pretty accurate. Even when there are inaccuracies they are highlighted as questionable. It's a great website and my first port of call when there's something I do not know

I love and can spend hours reading it. Its simple, easy to find and most of the articles site their sources so you can do further research.

I love wikipedia for obscure things and general knowledge. Not sure how I would consider it for some things that are usually pov.

Not to mention that a lot of sites tend to link to Wikipedia articles these days, which is one of the biggest ways to increase your PageRank ranking.
