    Smilies... Can I use these??

I have been searching for 3 days for some better smilies for my forum. I found some but no one will tell me if I can use them or not.

Are these smiles common smiles that are free to use, or do I have to pay for them. I searched the smile websites but there are thousands of them and I cant find these ones again.

I don't know where they came from, but I seen them used on another forum.

    Thanks.

What about MSN emoticons? I think they are free to use.

I can't email myself to ask me if I can use the smilies.

Took some digging around, but I can say this as much.

Animated Banana - vBulletin.org (remembered it from Chen's old days)
Non-Animated Smilies - Except for the smiling one, the rest comes from vBulletin 1 it looks like. The one smiling looks like it came from vBulletin 2.

As for the animated ones, not sure where they came from.

Thanks I'm going to use them then. Since they are from an older version.

Maybe I can try to download the old versions of VB and see if they are included.

I like them a lot better then the current faces.

As long as they came with vB then I don't have to worry about using them without paying.

Not all of them are from vBulletin 1.

Why not take a look at the smilies used at vB.org? AFAIK you can use them if you credit the owner (should be a link to them somewhere)

Ugh. I hate when someone makes an image and doesnt include some type of copyright. How do you know who made them.

Well use them and just wait for them to contact you with their proof that they own them....

Many, many, many, many, many others just do it, and don't bother asking.

Or use the many thousands available on vb.org that people have uploaded for others to use, more than enough there to keep you going.

Just ask permission from those whom you know made them, for the others put up a little disclaimer or FAQ asking for their creators to come forward so you can credit them/remove them.

I just use GPLed PNG smilies from kde-look.org on my site. They look good, work with all background colors and are free to use. There are some similar to the one posted. You can also look at vbulletin.org for some you can use.
