    Looks like there was shill bidding and the moron didn't realize the retail price was $399 USD, or whatever the nearly equivalent UK price is.

      That's nothing. The auction has been removed but there was a collection of every NES game, every NES addon and a full working NES for $25,000.

        These kind of auctions aren't all that weird actually. It's relatively easy to "cancel" a winning bid: create a dummy ebay account and place a bid that is higher than the current winning bid. That way you do not get negative feedback when you decide to "cancel the purchase".

              Just because people bid and win doesn't necessarily mean they paid for it
              There have been a number of times when people bid' extremely high amounts (thousands upon thousands) on something really lame.
