    Leaving my own forum

I am a licensed member posting under an alias here for this issue only, I hope that is OK with the staff here.

I am considering leaving my own forum, I have adminned it for two years but just don't have the desire to do it any longer, I just want to be 'a member' if you know what I mean and concentrate on my degree and my job.

I have a leased licence that expires in April, and paying just $10 a month for shared hosting at present but the forum is growing and may be at VPS stage before the end of this year.

Please advise me on how you think I should go about transferring the ownership of my forum onto somebody else from this stage.

    Thank You

If your talking about transferring the license, you will need to contact support and they will sort everything out for you.

OK, I have been receiving a few PM's with takeover offers. If I sold the forum, then the role of the buyer would be to look after the forum in regard to the technical stuff, the hosting, perhaps raising some revenue for the hosting through advertising etc. I would put someone else in charge (probably an existing member) of looking after the member base which is quite a close knit friendly community, and what happens in regard to new forums, rules etc. I wouldn't like the idea of bringing in someone completely new out of nowhere to take over everything.

Nah, you gotta be kidding! If you can't trust someone on your admin then why bother. I would just rather walk away altogether.

if your leaving your own forum, why don't you just sell the site.

All you need to do is give the buyer the database and the domain. he can then buy a full license and install the database and point the domain to his server.

The co-admin doesn't have the technical skill or time to run the the forum completely.

If you would like the URL of my forum, please private message me.

If you are planning on transferring the license ownership, please note that leased licenses cannot be transferred. The license would need to be upgraded or the new owner willhave to purchase thier own license to run the forums.

Simply sell it and be done with it. Unless you feel like you owe your members something the best thing you can do is try to recoup some of your losses thus far.
