Free Vista Business Edition and Office 2007 Pro

Microsoft is giving away free copies of Vista Business and Office 2007. All you have to do is watch 3 webcasts of your choosing and answer a few questions about each of them. Once you do that you get your free copies shipped in 6 to 8 weeks. Microsoft does this whenever they release new products. I got VS 2005 this way.

Head over to http://www.powertogether.com/ and get started.
The site is under some load due to the demand. Word gets out quick when these kinds of offers come about. Keep trying you'll get in. If you are a Microsoft Partner or member of MSDN then you're not eligible. I can understand that since we get copies through those programs anyway and their is no need to be greedy.

I read some speculation on digg that this might be a phishing attempt?

      SSL certificates invalid too.

I'm going to complete up to the point where I have to divulge more than an e-mail address, until it's confirmed. edit: which would be the step I'm on now.

This site hosted for Microsoft by Ascentium.
That sounds like BS, although on Microsoft's site, they're a "gold partner." And it is ASP.NET, not PHP or something that most phishing sites use.

This is definitely legit and is not a scam. The site is getting bombed so it might take a bit to get through. I would suspect this will be over pretty quick. I cleaned out my previous posts since they are no longer relevant.

            Sorry, a System Error Occurred
Occurs after submitting the form. Every other error is always a timeout.

edit: I did a thing a while ago where you attend three MS webcasts and get Visual Studio 2005 for free. Of course, I was only in it for VS2005 (itself several hundred dollars), but the webcasts actually ended up being very interested and got me into trying ASP.NET.

They are working on the problems with the site. This is Microsofts new pre launch viral marketing campaign. It is geared towards developers. I guess the idea is to get Vista into devs hands to aid program developement on Vista.

I would assume MSDN would be for that, but as they did a similar thing for Visual Studio 2005 (a great IDE, BTW), it makes sense.

I'm betting I got it, but the database has a primary key of my e-mail address or something so it thinks I'm trying to submit my data again. Or whatever.

I don't think you are eligible in the first place. I think you have to be part of the 50 United States.

Still slow hours later. IE7 actually gives up whereas Firefox will at least wait a minute or two, at which point the page does sometimes load. I still get an error when submitting the form, but it did say "Hello, My Name" when I revisited to that's promising.

I'll just try again tomorrow. I really want Office 2007, but Vista takes priority. I'm praying Microsoft pulls the same trick they did for Vista beta testers but for Office beta testers (and I did submit some bugs; in fact, MSFT called me at home to follow up on one).

Kind of odd that they decided to give Vista Business away, you think they would have chosen Vista Ultimate..

                          Good marketing plan though..
