    Croc Hunter Steve Irwin Dies

BRISBANE, Australia - Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and environmentalist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray during a diving expedition. He was 44.

Irwin was filming an underwater documentary on the Great Barrier Reef in northeastern Queensland state when he was stung, Sydney's The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on its Web site.
He collapsed at Batt Reef, near Low Isle and the resort town of Port Douglas, Queensland state police said in a statement. Port Douglas is about 1,260 miles north of Brisbane, the state capital.
A rescue helicopter rushed to the scene but Irwin had died, the statement said.
I can't really believe it. He was loved by so many.

He was more a conservationist than a Hunter.

He was an absolute legend, and I hope the fairly recent controversy with him dangling his baby a few feet from a crocodile isn't the last memory so many have of him. He made kids start watching wildlife documentary shows again and made it fun. He was an entertainer, a family man and a all-round nice guy to be around (I know people who worked at his zoo)

RIP Steve. He did great things, and got kids interested in his shows. Almost like a train wreck, you can't help but look. I know my kids will miss him.

I was expecting headlines to say "Croc hunter killed by croc," but this is a bit on the strange side.

His wife doesn't know yet since she's elsewhere in the mountains, apparently, so it wil be a hard shock for her I'm sure when she gets back, or if they go to her.

He was definetly one of those good people. Still, I love how the reports mention the negatives more than the positives; and people focus on that. Many people who know him outside of the news (his work, contributions, etc) see the bigger picture.

                    Definetly sad news.
Congratulations on the death of vBulletin, Internet Brands.

Yep, great vid. A nice little celebration of a great man's life. The man was a true animal lover, as am I, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for the guy. ('Cept for the baby incident, that was a little out of line, but other than that, he was great).
