Another question though is if unlimited free or nearly free energy is a good idea.
I've heard the argument that people would become wasteful, leaving lights on, heating whenever it gets slightly cold, and so on. That would probably expedite global warming a bit more.

I don't think we as a human race could ever truly destroy Earth. I do believe that Earth is warming up, but I don't buy into this whole "global warming" idea.

I don't want to get off-topic here, but I just find it hard to believe that Earth has been around for billions of years, and could suddenly be destroyed by a race who have been here for maybe a few thousand years. It's not the power over nature, thinking you can control mother nature is a very dangerous thing to start believing, she's be at it a much longer time than we have.

Though to push her off balance by having little of no respect for the environment and its balance, sure I believe in that and that it will come back and bite us.
