XFire is a gaming messenger what lets you talk to your friends whilst playing games. I've used this service since 2004, they were very small back then, but not now. They get a new registration every 1 to 60 seconds. Everytime you reafresh the page, they have a new user. I think they should run on vBulletin instead of phpbb. The whole user database is huge.
The website is running of php-nuke, (they modded it). I talk to all the developers and workers of XFire about it, all I get it 'We'll look into it'.
XFire has just recently got sold to MTV, Unicom (or whatever the company name is), if I was them, I'd make a brand new website and move the forums over to vBulletin.
What do you think?
