I've got it downloading at work... 121kbs, not too bad.

Has anyone tried it with the free version of VMWare? I'm hoping it will work that way because I'm not going to bother with fully installing it. I know it won't have the glass interface, but I really don't care.

Update: Seems to work fine and is pretty trivial to install. So far I don't have networking working but I'll work on that tomorrow.

Damn - downloaded it and installed, but there are no drivers for the NVidia GeeForce Go 7400!! Anyone know of any drivers for this card? I have now reverted back to XP Media Center.

I sed the beta...it wasn't bad as an upgrade. I just put XP back on...and I am happy. Vista is in beta, and I can't wait for the final version to come out.

                Aero got me all excited.

Downloading now at about 400kbs, which isn't too bad. I downloaded the 64bit version last night by mistake since I was on my desktop, however, I am now redownloading as my laptop is a 32bit machine .

Nice to be able to tinker and test it, hopefully it will function well enough for me to test and play with.

For everybody who gets poor speeds: <removed by floris> get the torrent.

Turns out after MS says its probably ok that they have decided it isn't. http://arstechnica.com/journals/micr...2006/6/15/4345

Does anyone know if Microsoft is going to release further updates?

And if you install it in VMWare like I did, be sure to install VMWare Tools. Mouse performance was terrible and I had no networking, but that all is easily fixed with tools.

So far I don't see anything compelling about Vista. The main interface hasn't changed too much, which is very nice. I need to load a few apps and see how other things have changed, I think the menu thing might be a problem. And the User Account Protection (or whatever it's called) is a major pain in the hiney, I do not like it at all.

What do you mean by further updates? Like a public release of beta 3?
                        It's still uncomfirmed, but possible..

I got the file downloaded, but what do I do with it? It says it's an ISO Image File. I can't open it.

You have to burn it to a DVD before you can use it now.

Thanks, but all that did was move it to a DVD and I still an't open it.

What am I supposed to do with this file?
