    Paypal???

I got this e-mail from paypal on Fri, 26 May 2006

    They sent me this information:

    # April. 7 . 2006: We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party. Because protecting the security of your account is our primary concern, we have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features. We understand that this may be an inconvenience but please understand that this temporary limitation is for your protection.

It was paypal, as they sent me the email through [email protected], so I read the rest of the message, and they told me this:

(Your case ID for this reason is PP-121-601-924.)

I went to my resolution area looked for that case ID and I found nothing...
What made me suspecious was that they told me to resolve my case using this URL, they said that this was there resolution centre: http://www.gourmet-report.de/_notes/...cmd=_login-run
    gourmet-report.de

It's a non-english site, but I fought Paypal was an English company..

All I found was nothing, on that part of the server inwhich the url sent me to.
Also on the email it said some thing about terminating or suspending my account, because third party had accessed my account.

The thing is, I am not sure if this is a real official email sent directly from paypal. But still they were using the official paypal email. ([email protected])

But I am quite worried at them turning my account down.
But as it states in the email, they said they put a restriction on my account, but when I went to purchase a license of cutenews TODAY, all was accepted through my paypal account. I haven't noticed any restrictions as of yet.

So I am not sure what to do? should I change my password even though it's a very unique and hard long password. Should I contact paypal, if so who??

    What should I do?

It might be a spoof. Forward that mail to Paypal to see if it's real and don't enter any password by clicking on a link in that mail.

Otherwise they might fixed it already if this mail is real.

      Good luck,
      Francois

That does look like a scam, I would ignore it.

It's relatively easy to fake an email address.

One of the best ways to detect a scam/spoof for paypal or ebay....

Official email from paypal/ebay ALWAYS contains your real name, first and last. Not username. Not email address. Not "Dear Paypal Member".

Unless an email contains my name in the body of the email, its a spoof.

IF you get any email asking you to click here to login etc, instead of clicking on the link, just go to the site by hand. Most of the time spoof emails will link to a fake domain that will look exactly like paypal.com but won't be.

Hmm, so how could you take control over some one's email address? Just curious. (don't worry you wont be recieving any paypal requests from me)

You don't take control of someone email address you just pretend to be them. If you reply to [email protected] it will go to paypal.com

Okay, thanks. When I saw that email saying they were going to cancel my paypal account, I just got a bit edgy.
