    controll panel advice

When i move to a dedicated server, the only thing i will run on it is my forum.

Is plesk an ideal controll panel to run? i offer all my moderators FTP accounts for them to use as in todays cyber society you always need one at some point or another.

What controll panel do you guys use?

The forums I run use two servers. One is Plesk, the other is cPanel.

I have used cPanel for years, and like it. I know its quirks, but I am comfortable with it.

Plesk I have not used so much. It is OK, and does the job well enough.

I would use what you are most comfortable with.

I would definately say go with WHM/cPanel, its the best Control panel software in my opinion.
I have used all of them , but nothing compares to the stability, support and ease of use of Cpanel..

Don't use ensim or plesk, please. Its for your own good. I personally like cPanel, it does a good job.

Define ram hungry? All webservers that are going to be doing _everything_ should have at least 1GB of ram. Its not just a webserver remember, its doing domains, emails, mysql, apache, ftp, etc.

Plesk isn't an overall bad solution to be honest. Given, CPanel is more popular in the 'hosting world'. CPanel is easier to use when it comes to creating packages and the like, however, given a few minutes, you can do the same with Plesk.

Plesk, to me, does have a much cleaner interface which is why I am partial to the software, though I've been even more so impressed with InterWorx's CP release.

If you've not yet decided, check it out over at http://interworx.com/. I've used it on a personal server and I think it's wonderful.

Dont bother with admin panels and use http://www.webmin.com/

You do the installation and upgrade of software packages, dont let cpanel decide when this needs to be done. Best of all its free.

I use it with Debian, lets me have a nice way to change configurations and its stable.

cPanel can waste server resources from time to time and can potentially go wrong when its editing configuration files.

I cannot stand Plesks interface at all. But really in the end it all comes down to prefrence. Now scott I've never had cpanel botch up on me, in the serveral yaers I've been running it on all of the servers I've been managing. It makes things easy to use and manage. Plus if you are going to have more than one site it makes doing so very easy.
