    Best Chat Software with vb

    Hi All

I have been researching chat software to add into our site with vb ( currently have the lite version installed)

I see on the forum that there is an example of integrating jpilot with vb. I have also seen that java chat is not as desirable.

I have gone through a lot of the php chats, which have the advantage of easier integration, but they see slow lack good interfaces?

    Any suggestions or ideas?

    Thanks

    Dave

Definately IRC, with an optional java portal for users without an IRC client.

Does DigiChat cost anything? I'm using the free QuickChat from quickchat.org right now.

How can you say that Mat? Digichat is (client) resource hungry and way too much ca$h

I guess my computer doesn't mind? Although I have noticed that our users who have slower computers have a slightly more difficult time using it. It was purchased w/o my input so I didn't have the opportunity to explore different options but from a feature and stability standpoint I haven't seen many others that I like out there.

I have always been partial to Eshare Expressions ( http://www.eshare.com/ ) because they support HTML, Javascript, Java, and IRC as methods to connect to the chat server. They are more expensive, but worth it. -- Although I did like what I see with digichat and will try and install it on Tuesday.

Any suggestions on a good IRC Client that I can pass the defined vb username to through HTML?

                    Thanks

We have a license for it and it is excellent. If the server ran under *nix, it would be the perfect chat solution.

Jpilot works really well with IRC servers.

I've seen a couple of implementations which include "global.php" and then use the various bbuserinfo variables to configure the applet if a registered user logs on.

What about a chat that uses flash?
I think that it can be integrated and updated live on every php page.
Just a question, I`m not sure about this.

Um, didgichat has a hosted solution for up to 25 users -> $24.95 a month

not that much more for 5 users
