gmail to change its name to Googlemail in the uk

That’s right Google is changing its name to googlemail in the UK because of a trademark dispute.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Existing UK users will get to keep their gmail account though, so at least that is something.

    Google loses its G-spot

They can use gmail.com in the US but not in the UK? I don't understand how such a distinction can be drawn when the domain is accessable anywhere in the world.

I like the sound of "Gmail" though... sounds so much better than "Email."
Congratulations on the death of vBulletin, Internet Brands.

          I smell a chicken..

They should not wimp out and just buy the company and their trademark.

I am sure the company wants quite a lot of money

Gmail is also called 'Google Mail' in Germany because of copyrights
              That's the end of that!

Of course I do not know all the legal stuff and what goes on in court, etc. But if I was Google and couldn't use Gmail as name, I would not be Gmail here and Google Mail there.. I'd keep www.Gmail.com and call the product Google Mail. Internet isn't of one country. That's one mistake this digital revolution made. And it's a shame. But let's not get into the politics of this - I dont' need to upset myself over things I can't control anyway.

GoogleMail just doesn't have the same ring to it.

                    This sucks.

                      I don't mind.

GMail would've been better, but if it's a legal matter.. so be it.
