I gotta go with vB 2 personally. Always loved it.

vB 3 is just... kinda... meh.

I voted for the vB 3.x series, since I consider 3.5.x to be part of the vB 3.x series. Naturally, I'm now a fan of the latest stable version, 3.5.2.

The 3.5 series is my favorite because of the ajax.

I prefer the XHTML of vB3 with the Javascriptlessness of vB2. I have never administered vB1 so I don't know.

I hate ajax and javascript with a passion. I really hate to see so much of it being used in 3.5. But, I love the plugin system.

I prefer 3.5 to any of them. 3.0 was great, 2.0 was awesome. Only thing I dont like about 3.5 is the button set.

                  2.0

I am not a fan of javascript and I'm not a fan of the emails I get from users and potential users that have either a) broken web browsers b) not enough computer skills to understand how the forums navigation works.

I am however a fan of the xhtml compliance of vb3

3.5 gets my vote - because it just feels right.

vBulletin 3 was a huge step from 2, in terms of design and functionality.. 3.5 has just taken it a step further. :P

I am going to be a luddite, and this is a very odd opinion for me since I love vB3 and I use it on my forum and I have never regretted for one moment switching first from XMB to vB2 and then later up to vB3.

However, sometimes vB3 gets so complex it trips over its own backside. Very often I think of various things I could do on my forum which I then drop when the complexity of permissions kicks in and you realise that changing one little thing could suddenly leave your mods forum in public view, or some such thing.

I know it can be learned. But some of us just haven't the time. I work 40 hours, study for another 15 and have to run my busy board as well. It's all too much.

vB2 had a certain simplicity, clarity and robustness that *sometimes* I wish I still I still had.

Additionally, I am in no doubt whatsoever that vB3 has become too bloated, on all except the fastest servers it is slower than pretty much anything else on the market.

This post sounds negative, it isn't meant to be, it's just a few observations. I'll never stop using vB no matter what.

3.5, I like ajax except in the newer version it doesn't use double click to edit

Isn't the button set for vB 3x the same as 3.5?

3.5 for me... it's just like... fast and stuff!
Congratulations on the death of vBulletin, Internet Brands.

Yes, and I'm surprised they didnt change it after all the negative feedback

But what I prefer about 3.5 over 3.0 is the speed and plugin system. The button set is the only drawback in my eyes. But luckily, they can be changed somewhat easily (making them takes a while, since there are so many)
