Spammers hitting vBulletin Forms

I've been getting a lot of spam (whee) through the contact form in vBulletin. Online poker, viagra - all the standard spammer stuff. I guess they either figured out a way to have scripts find forms on your site, or... someone out there is manually sending this through a form.

Anyone else have this problem? Thoughts on how to fix it? I figured I can turn off the feature (I think there is one) where only registered users can contact me, but... that would only leave those spammers the option to register and post spam/send me e-mails. Plus, that form is used for when someone on the forum does need help but does not want to register.

3.5 has a fix for this to stop bots using the same image generation taht you get for registration.

Freddie also backported it to the 3.0.x branch so any future 3.0.x release will have it.

If you're using 3.5, you can enable the image verification for Contact Us.

It is very easy to make. I have made such a script myself.

Just jot over to vb.org and pick up the hack that uses the text verfication that vb has built in for a forum.

Image verification for contact us is a wonderful addition to Vbulletin 3.5x

this happens quite often with spammers, try to disable your contact us for few days, wait n watch if spammers register and still trouble you.

yer its some little bot has managed to read the verification numbers.
I had the same issue even on other BB systems.
