First, I am sorry to have to post this here. I am simply not getting any help from the vendor site and I thought you guys could help instead.
I run http://ashleyroseorr.net which is the officially sanctioned fansite for actress Ashley Orr. A few months ago, somebody started sending malicious emails and death threats to the Orr family and other members. I did some log checks and ARIN looksups, notified the detectives working for Mrs. Orr, and extracted email headers in plain text for them. Ro make a long story short, this person was confronted by the police and things seemed to stop. A day or two ago, odd messages started popping up on the forum, posted by users that do not exist. An example can be found at http://www.ashleyroseorr.net/discus/...tml?1125806860.
The forum, http://ashleyroseorr.net/discus uses discus pro because the server it's on has neither php nor mysql. Anonymous posting is off and the offending users entire IP range (for all known ranges used) are blocked. Still they manage this. I checked the IPs and they match.
Is this a fluke or a real problem with Discus boards? What do I do now? I've run this for five years for the Orr's and do not wish to stop, but both my vBulletin licenses are in use, and even if they weren't, there's no way the server admin is going to install php or mysql.
Can I sue or something? Isn't hacking and death threats a federal offense? The offender lives overseas in Amsterdam. It seems a vendetta has been raised again both the Orr family and myself. I thought they'd been arrested already. Either I was wrong, or more than one person is involved.
