    The cost of vBulletin...

For what it is, who thinks the cost of vB is too high?
Do other people think it's a little expensive?

The price seems fine to me. It's worth every penny.

You're 17 and you don't think it's a lot of money? Jesus, I wish I were as rich as you when I was 17 lol

I agree. It's priced very fairly, especially for such a robust package. You rarely see such powerful software for so cheap, especially software that can be used as a foundation for an entire site's backend.

Enterprise software can range from thousands to tens of thousands of dollars. $160 is pretty cheap.
        :)

The price is very low all things considered.

Check out the price of the competition, and you'll see why we say this...

Don't have a job? Between 1987 and 1991 (17-21) I purchased 2 different BBS programs for my BBS (InnerSphere, later Phantasmagoria). Each package was well over $100 at the time. Part-time jobs = Money for more toys.

You're lucky you can get something this powerful for such a low price.

Yes, I do have a job. I'm just saying a 17 year old being able to throw away that kind of money is unusual.

Also, a lot of people mention the higer price of competition. What about IPB & phpBB and also YaBB? They're free.

                What competition do you mean?

Actually IPB is no longer free.

phpBB isn't really in direct competition to vB.

phpBB is usually used for small sites and sites starting out. very rare is it used for a MAJOR BIG WOW site.

well.. maybe because of age difference and ...
                          maybe different countries.

In SG, things are too expensive.
infact everyone know the exchange rate USD$1 = SGD$1.80+-

                          $160 = SGD$300+-

to us here. u guyz may feel hey 300bucks is alot.
but in SG, 300 can survive how long?
Let me do a brief break-down for u to see.

                          1. Meal = 1 meal range $5 - $12
Assume do no step into resturant, Maybe.. ehh Macdonalds..
                          1 meal is avg $7. 3 meals a day = $21.
                          1 months 30 days = $630

                          2. Transportation.
                          By bus/train = $1.40 / trip. Assume 4 trips a day
By Cab = on avg w/o all the extra charges $12
                          By bus/train = $5.60 x 30 days = $160
                          By Cab = $12 x (assume u dun always take cab but only weekends = 8 Days) = $96
                          So transportation = $256

                          3. Driving.
                          1 time 3 days 1 full tank = 60 Liters
                          if 1 Liters = $1.60
1 time ard $80 Fuel. Assume dun drive alot, 1 month top up 4 times.
                          that is aread $320

                          4. Mobilephone Bill.
for me, my avg monthly bill is ard SGD$200.

So.. just this can any just guage above did u guyz think USD$160 is alot? maybe is alot to students.. but maybe to us working class.. should be okie. Just save abit, for me, drive lesser.

Vbulletin price is actually unbelievable low...
Can't find a similarly complex professional script (with technical support) for a similar price.
Oh...and I'm from Hungary where GDP is pretty low compared to US or other European countries. What can you buy for $160?..a Nike Jordan shoe is $175...even a 1 night stand in a "middle rate" motel for 2 is pricier...

It would take years for a programmer to write (from scratch) a similar future rich stable script...
