Either e-mail your domain name company, or if it's something like godaddy (not sure about any others) there's a members area thingy where you can change all the details, just change it to the new owner.

Initiate a PUSH (if they have an account with the same domain registrar as you) it will cost both of you nothing.

Or you can initiate a transfer out from your domain registrar (will cost them to transfer to their own registrar)

Now for the transfer to be initiated the buyer has to initiate a TRANSFER with his domain registrar, then you will get notice if you want to allow it. You just click the links in the emails and it will be done within a matter of days.

Just to add to the above, do not under any circumstances start any of those processes without getting your money up front.

Depending on the value involved, you may want to use an escrow service (www.escrow.com) otherwise wait for any cheques, echecks etc to clear first.

http://www.dnforum.com/ or sitepoint has a similar area to sell domains.

I would also STRONGLY suggest using a service like escrow.com for any significant transaction. It verifies all funds and protects both the buyer and seller.
