does anyone want to merge forums?

    i have run a small forum forums.webrats.com
we are looking to increase our user count by having another forum or 2 merge with ours

we would incure all bandwidth/server cost since we would be hosting all the forums on our multiple server cluster.

is anyone is interested shoot me an email [email protected] with merger in the subject

this would be a hreat benfit to some people who have a large forum and dont have time to manage it, and are looking for almost 30k new members

Respectfully, that is very unlikely to happen. A site with that many users is probably worth $10,000 or more.

My forum is small but I got a $10,000 domain name! But that's ok, it's going alright. 2 months up now, averaging 85,000 hits a month. I just don't know how to run a forum, I've just been relying on the domain name and filburt1's vBMS to bring users.

Just remember, mergers rarely ever work out.

I'd merge only if it were on my server

Exactly why they dont work out

I tried a few mergers in the past but the other admin and I couldn't agree on many parts of the merger and we cancelled them.

I've had like 3 mergers a long time in the past, although only one was a "true" merger, and all failed within a few months one way or another. Really, it's not fun trying to make everyone get along.

Or trying to figure out how to work staff, who gets control of the main site, the forums, the server, etc.

They get really messy... I would really reccomend just sticking to yourself.

Yeah mergers are terrible. Affiliations aren't bad though.

I had a merger between my mboard and another one recently. Another forum I was a member one closed down and the members migrated to my mboard as I assumed the other forum's name and domain shortly after. Was going to migrate part of the original board's database, but never got around to it. The admin of the other board simply didn't want to worry about running a forum no more at this time and preferred to just be a poster.
