If you were to offer your community e-mail, I think it would be hard to compete with all the free e-mail providers that offer hundreds of megs of storage.

None of them offer users@yourdomain addresses, though, which is the idea of such paid scripts. That way, you can increase the visibility of your site.

Like filburt said, everyone has hotmail addresses, but only 5 people have modtheater.com addresses. Offering email to members is just another incentive to join and contribute to your community. Give email to donators or very active members.

I'll take a look at the server (Kevin never told me it was down - I haven't talked to him in over a week) for you guys.

Server is back up... I got a hold of Kevin, and he got on the server before I did -- restarted apache.

Anyone still having any problems -- just contact me (I'm the server admin)

HiveMail has *not* disappeared. Apparently Apache decided to die and cPanel failed to notify me about it. It's restarted now and everything should be functioning normally.

Good point... I guess that is why you wrote vbmail.

While the members areas are similar (both Chen and I came from vB and obviously it influenced our design) the entire HiveMail.com site was created and coded by Chen and myself.

Glad to hear it was nothing more than a server error.

I think the same error appeared again...

                          Hivemail+vBulletin would be good.
Hivemail's WYSIWYG editor works better than vBulletin's one:

Yeah, because of a bug in the browser that Jelsoft can't fix. Sheesh.

But Hivemail can: they are great!

Well it's a godd idea to allow members of your community to have emails such as [email protected]. I will think about buying a hivemail licence for the future
