    Anyone seen Chen (Firefly)?

Anyone seen Chen (FireFly) around recently? I poked around at HiveMail and well, Chen isn't there anymore....

His last login was June 14, 2004 according to his profile...

It's not like him to disappear at HiveMail...its his baby.

I spoke to him on ICQ last week, he's busy with real life things.

It was a while ago, but I do remember him saying that he either got drafted, or signed up for Isreals defence force.

If he lives in Isreal it isn't really a draft just a requirement that all males (maybe females too) have to serve two years in the military. Like they they get to choose but it has to be done between the ages 18-25 or something along those lines.

He does live in Israel but he has not gone off to the military. Perhaps best not to speculate on what someone else is doing?

As a side note Surrix, having to serve in the army for x years is the exact definition of a draft.

Either way, this really sucks. Chen was a great guy. I think that living in Israel would be hell. I feel sorry for him.

It would just be nice to know whether Chen is in the Israel military or if he has just decided that the Internet is not for him. He started a company, HiveMail, which was very promising when it started, but now... it's lacking big time.

p.s. Sorry for bringing up such an old thread, but I didn't want to make a new one as I would have been redirected to this one.

As far as I know he has gone into the army. I don't think he was overly upset about having to do so

                            why would it suck?

if you've grown up as that being the norm, everybody around you doing the same then it probably doesn't bother him.

While i don't personally beleive in the reasons for drafting, i think it could do a lot of people a lot of good.
