    Outage caused by MCI worldcom

What are everyone's views about todays ongoing outage caused by the above company?

If you haven't noticed yet => If your sites hosted at VDI, its down!

    Opinions?

Mine: Im really pissed off - luckily enough, my customers can't complain (yet) because I can't get into my email

        yep - me too etones.

I was stupid enough to give one of my customers an ALT email and I've just had a right one of of him - wants a refund for a $180+ package he paid for.

I have offered him the next month free, if he's not happy then, its his problem.

What can I be expected to do? Im sitting hundreds of miles away from the stupid frigging server. They don't seem to get that its located in USA and Im in the UK - I can't hop down the road and say get this fixed or I'll beat the **** out of you*

        Go figure

*Please excuse my langauge, Im extremely mad

            "outage by the above company"

When I do a traceroute to my site I get only 3 hops before I die today.

Normally the server is 15 or 16 hops away from me. The issue lies before the above mentioned company even comes into play.

                  i know, its a real *****

Trouble is, all my clients are business's, so they know how to get in touch with me, as my site (back-end scripting) are the basis for all there business... so my downtime = loss in there profits and mine... oh, its a ****ing mess..

groan, i dont think its gonna be sorted by the weekend either,

A decent informant says that a person handling IPs messed everything up, dunno if he deleted logs, database or what, but its costing me money,

This we are likely to be able to ask for compemsation??

Level3 and Uunet/Afternet/MCI blew their main router tables... Bad thing..

We are getting hammered at SitePoint.

130 people online tracking one thread.

Already we have passed our average posts for the day and average new user signups.

I do have to say that vBulletin is handling it nicely though.

someone's back up? that's good to know. Hopefully everyone else will follow suit. VDI.net is still down.

How could sitepoint have 130 online when you're down? I'd like to set up my server to be online when it's down, that's a cool trick. I did understand you are VDI nased?

                              Is VBulletin VDI based too?

Can I make a backup of my own router tables? Then I can make a call to VDI and offer it to them in exchange for a few extra gig for free.

                              haha, just kidding. Better thancrying.
