Already shut email confirmation off because they were getting lost or bottlenecked somewhere. I told em they needed a separate dinky box just for email.

We have several sites but if we loaded all of our sites on those servers they would die a painful death

They should get some optimizations in 3.0.2 that will help out scale... I show over 1200 there now.

Just wait until Howard mentions it on his show in the morning.

You might want to look to make sure search isn't killing the server, the vB getnew/today fix helps a lot but there can still be huge queries that can kill the server.. When upgrading to vB3 on one site I learned the hard way what vB3's search can do to a cluster

Good point, but with only a few thousand posts, search shouldn't be an issue yet. The future though...

I have nothing to do with the hardware so I don't know the details, unfortunately. I do know that I've run more users on much less hardware, so there is something fishy yet.

Based on what they're used to hosting, I'm thinking there is too much balance toward the web servers and not enough behind the database... but I'm sure it will get sorted with that much hardware to throw at it.

I suspect a MySQL issue or it could be hard drive limitations, thats normally the issues with larger forums..
