                          If "E" in "ebulletin" means "electronic bulletin", then "v" in "vbulletin" should also mean something. If it does not mean any thing, then why not choose a word for it officially? It will look more professional.

                            I disagree, it's very original to not have a name for it, and professionalism doesn't come from a name, imho.

                              the first thing most people think is it stands for virtual. but as already stated, just a random letter.
