Two big reasons to hate AOL

For the past 4 months, I have always listed my websites in my AOL profile as I had seen many many other people do. Yesterday morning, my AOL account was locked due to TOS violation. I called AOL as directed to and found out that my account had been locked because the TOS violation was that I listed my websites in my AOL member profile.... that is considered advertising and is a violation. Ok I politely told the AOL rep that I would remove them although my profile had been wiped clean already by AOL. As soon as I logged on, I added my websites again to my AOL profile.

The second thing is that AOL's spam filters now bounce emails from my forums to AOL members. I would say 1,000 of my members are from AOL since that is where I mostly advertise my site in chat rooms though parking in chatrooms and having my away message advertise my site. Anytime anyone gets a notification from my forums that is sent to an AOL email address, I get the bounced email saying that "the URL stated in the email is one associated with a high amount of spam and will not be sent to the members AOL account"
I had used the email members several times over the past few months so they think I am spamming.

I have now banned AOL email addresses even though I still advertise on AOL and the members joining since are using alternate addresses.

I hate them because they send those annoying "Try AOL free for 30days" CD's. Mind you they come in a DVD case now so I pinch the case for damaged DVD cases and use the CD as a cup mat

I went to Burger King on Tuesday and they had them there--at Burger King! Where I go to get my subpar Internet access!

BTW, their new spicy chicken sandwich is no good.

                They never send me any.

I picked up a stack of them at the post office and have had a trial account for the past two years!

I work part time for a bank, and if you only knew some of the things that AOL does, they you would never want to use them again. They act like a huge scam!

Too right, when I moved into my new house I was without dsl for a coupl of weeks so had to use dialup, so i thought i would use a 30 day trial rather than be netless for 2 weeks, closed my account with them the moment I got adsl. 4 Months on and i am still paying a monthly fee, even after ringing them up twice and being assured twice I wouldnt be billed again, even my credit card expiring didnt stop them taking money out they simply changed the expiry date and carried on charging me

AOL blocks e-mail from about anybody anymore....it's sad to be honest. There are probably well over 100 reasons not to use them or do much of anything with them .
