I really need a logo...

...or at least some help in how to make one. Or even suggestions for what type of logo I should be trying to make.
Here's a few pics of what my forums are about and the type of thing I'd like to incorporate into the logo. Basically some edited photos(resized obviously) with the site name included would be great.

Or, should I just go with the text and forget about the photos? I'm unsure and would appreciate any suggestions.

I'm working on a new style right now which basically uses the vb.org colour scheme but I won't be launching it 'til I get a half-decent logo done.

Well here's my effort at a logo/banner.

Pretty much a Mickey Mouse effort but I'm only learning photoshop, input or advice would be appreciated.
