How do I test out new layouts?

How can I just try to put a new layout (color scheme) together without having my users see me fiddle around with the coloring while I work on it and without having to shut it down?

    Unfortunately you can't. Sorry!

It's no problem, I'll just fiddle around a little and hope it doesn't discourage users.

      Thanks anyway

Heck, my users like to catch me doing things like that!

I have a private forum with it's own style. I try things out there before I move them to the public forums.

But the style still needs to be user selectable, even when used in a private forum. This means anyone can choose the style.

Yeah, whenever they see an error in one the files - "Oh, there he goes again!".

LOL!! You're right. I still get busted when I move it to the public styles. You just gotta be fast. And yes, the users love to catch me changing things. They really like it when I enter an image path in a header incorrectly.
