I find it highly unlikely that a 700 X 1px image would cause a signifcant decrease in performance to your site.

I don't think it neccesarily had to do with downloading the graphic file, it seemed to be the way IE and older video cards rendered the page. It seemed as if every time you scrolled down, IE had to re-render everything.

But like I mentioned, this seemed to only be prevelant running IE on old (ie Pentium 500) machines.

Other than that, this is one really great holiday style!

CuriousGeorge, what were the steps involved in making it fluid? This is my first attempt at adding a skin, therefore I'm a noob.

The steps were extensive and it required re-building the entire header section of the template. A good bit of Photoshopping.
