i never tried that - when we got started, most of the sites that did what we do, didn't even want our money for banner advertisements lol
i suggest you get a good team of moderators... to help get the word out and keeep your forum topics going... when we first started we gave out free t-shirt or mouse pad to anyone that posted 500 post or more.... small things add up to success...

Just over a month now we've had this running ....... finished most of the major appearance changes, buttons, main colors etc. Several small jobs yet to do and complete.
Not quite ready to do the 2.0.1 upgrade yet but .... soon I think.Comment

lmao..Die thread!
I started this thread many moons ago in search of some
outstanding graphics and designs of forums. There have
been some wonderful color arrangements, creative tweaking,
but after all these months . . . only ONE forum has come through
on top for me personally because the layout and coding.
Take a look: http://www.amdmb.com/vb/index.php
What you will notice is that the right margin of all forum pages
is devoted to workable ad banners and links. Most of the
other forums who attempt to use this feature mistakenly park
their ad banners and links on the LEFT side. In English
speaking countries, eyes read from left to right. Professional
artists and photographers use this standard in layout, as
do magazine publishers, to avoid the uncomfortable eye strain,
which is predominately not consciously noticed by the viewer.
My agenda in authoring this topic was initially color and
creative layout. It evolved to looking for more of the above
sample forum posted. But only ONE has come forward, and
the person who posted it has chosen not to repsond to my
emails.
Anyone else?
Thanks,
David
