    German

    Hi

I have been uploading languages to my forums via the upload in admincp and, for the most part, all has been fine. A challenge has arisen, however, when a few of the languages uplaod and then state "master language" and things become strange in the forum.

What makes a language pack a "master" language. As far as I can see, when I downloaded them they do not state "this is a master language". Can they be changed to supporting languages?

      Hi,

Thanks, I have seen that but it does not address my query.

I have, for instance, installed the French language which stated that it was a master language (during installation), updated all languages and then dissappeared! Not visible in any lists be it public or admincp. The German language pack tried to over-write the English(master) and caused problems that I had to resort to sql (thanks to support here) to resolve.

All I want is to have different languages available as a users selection if they do not have sufficient English to understand. My audience (potential or otherwise) is global and I need the members joining to be able to participate.

I even have a 'staff' group started called "translators" that can aid others on request.

When you imported the language, have you chosen to create a new language?

          Hi dtommy

I did it exactly the same way that I successfully imported about 7 other languages _

Install the one (du or sie) with zusatzsprache in the filename.

If you want to have german as the masterlanguage, choose hauptsprache.
                this is my sig
