Traslating front-end (text that all visitors see)

I am starting translating 3.6.8. I use „Language Manager”
For the beginning I want to translate front-end (text that all visitors see).
In „Language Manager” I see some phrases are marked with ed colour. Are those phrases the one shown in front-end?
Which “Phrase type” are primarily used in front end?

There should be a legend there, I believe red phrases are the customized phrases. Or outdated phrases no longer used. I don't fully remember at this point.
