Licensing question for adding another language for my exisitng forum.

    Hi,

I have a two question here.

    First question:
I already have a vBulletin forum in english targeted for english audiences. Now, I am looking to provide another forum for chinese audiences. In this case, do I need another license?

    Second question:
Now I have the forum run in production. Can I install another instance of vBulletin for testing and backup purpose only?

    Regards,
    Jackson Chiam

    Hi there,

You can install multiple languages in a single instance of vBulletin. This way you do not need another license for each language pack.

If you want to a totally different instance of vBulletin you require to have another license for that.

And yes, as per license agreement you are permitted to temporary have a private test forum aside your live forum.

      Hi Floris,

      I need further clarification.

For example, my forum is at http://forums.abc.com and this is in english.
I want to setup http://chinese.forums.abc.com and this one is in chinese.
They will share the same user accounts and database.

      How's the licensing issue?

Does chinese.forums.abc.com point to forums.abc.com with just chinese language pack, or is it a second, seperate, installation?

Seperate installation requires another license of course.

If they are sharing same datatabase (using same boards/posts/threads/contents?), I would think that it will be fine.
