Registered emails wont send anymore....?

Hi all, im in a loss; simply because i havent done anything different. We are running 3.7.3. New members can register, but the activiation email does not go through - new notification also doe snot work. Ive asked for help from the webhost, but they wont do much to help. Any ideas anyone? Is there some way to test an email through the vbulletin some how? thanks.

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Email

I got this -

The mailing function returned an error while trying to send the mail.

The following errors were outputted by PHP when attempting to send mail: Warning: 535 Authorization to the SMTP server failed in [path]/includes/class_mail.php on line 585

I have absolutely no idea why this has happened Any ideas? thank you

Are you using SMTP email instead of the default of using PHP's mail() function?

Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> Email Options -> SMTP Email

If you aren't sure, that should be set the 'no', otherwise, make sure that the SMTP settings there are correct.
