Marking forums read

Hi

When I am done reading a forum, I mark them as read for that forum. Then when someone posts in that forum I just marked read, the new post indicators show and I go that forum then all of a sudden becuase of the new post, all the other posts that I marked read are now shoing new again.

If I go to the main page and click mark all forums read from there this doean't happen, only real new messages show up. I have tried deleting cookies but this happens on differant computers so it can't be a cookie problem.

Any ideas?

The "Mark forum read" link for individual forums uses cookies to track the thread markers. Cookies aren't always reliable so niether is this feature. There is a hack on www.vbulletin.org that makes unread post markers persistant (not based on cookies), but I'm sure that would add a lot of additional overhead to each forum page.

because that link resets your last visit date.
