I have a site with many categories and forums. As a result, the first page is very slow (many categories!). Is there any way to make this page faster? What if I enable the GZIP Output? Is it safe? Thank you.
How do I make faster the forums home page?

post your phpinfo page
create a file named phpinfo.php and place this code in it and post the url/link to it from your web site
<?
phpinfo();
?>
i.e. yourdomain.com/phpinfo.php
if you have php compiled with zlib support you can enable gzip in vB admin panel set it at no higher than level 1 and that will compress and speed up loading of all vB php pages
if you don't have zlib support compiled into PHP then you can't use it but you can try installing mod_gzip which will compress all server pages not just vB's php pages http://i4net.tv/marticle/get.php?act...e&articleid=12:: Always Back Up Forum Database + Attachments BEFORE upgrading !

You can see this if you follow eva's instructions for creating a phpinfo.php.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)
Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)

Since you have zlib support you can enabled gzip compression in your Admin CP. Set the level to 1.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)
