Reply notification OK but activation NO!

I just upgraded from 2.2.9 to VB3 gamma & when I test sending email to all user from CP I found it's not working (no body of user even me recived any email), also for new member registeration the forum don't send the activation message & I need this option to confirm new user email.

but at the same time I can get notification email of new reply in Thread Subscription.

I contact my host to ask about any problam in the server ,So they double check the server & they found everything is fine with it.

    Can you help please

Since some email is working, this sounds like a server issue. You will need to view the mail logs on the server to see what happened to those emails. Once vB sends it to PHP it's in the hands of the server. If you are on a shared server you may need to ask your host to look through the logs for you.

I'm actually having the same problem. I am my own provider. Some e-mail seems to be going through, and some not. I'm finding that emails going to aol are the worse. There the single largest number of e-mails that are not arriving. I'm not receiving any bounces, and I'm not seeing anything in the log. I will continue to search the logs in Linux, but I'm not sure what the next step would be. Is it possible to receive all activation e-mails to my account as well as the person registering to try to diagnose the issue?

A little more information. Here is the log for some e-mail going to a particular person. I've blocked out the username for privacy purposes.

Those logs show the email is reaching the server and is being sent. What do your reject logs show.

As far as I know it's in the same log. I do show some rejects, and the reasons are valid. Such as invalid e-mail addresses. Which this particular person I e-mailed them with outlook to try to resolve the problem, and that e-mail reached them. Is there another log that I should be looking at? These messages came from /var/log/mail.

On my server the reject email logs are in a separate file.

                  I have a mail, mail.err, mail.info, and a mail.warn

None of them indicate any problems with an e-mail to an aol.com user let alone this one in particular.

Could you please try it yourself? Register at our site, and see if you receive a properly format and delimited e-mail?

That's very strange. I'm still getting around 20% of my registrants failing in this manner. I'm also getting another problem, but that's in another thread.

I'm having a problem with some of my activation e-mail being sent out. They are getting =0D appended to the end of the lines, and because of this people are unable to click the links to be activated. Here's a sample of an e-mail: <BLOCKQUOTE style="PADDING-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; BORDER-LEFT: blue 2px

I will delete that account. Thank you for your test.

I'm testing further, and it's looking like it might be the reverse DNS lookup on the mail server IP that's making alot of spam filters grab and delete the e-mails. I've changed this now and I'm waiting for the results to propigate, and see if this resolves my problems.

I won't know for sure until the other problem is fixed, if people can't complete registration because of the e-mail corruptions, then I have no way of knowing if they've received there e-mails.

This sounds like the same problem I am having, but around 85% of the people that register aren't getting the e-mail...including myself. Just started another thread on this...sorry. Will try and take a look at the logs tomorrow after I get some sleep. Thanks.

You may need to enable the -f parameter in the vBulletin Options.

Though are you using SMTP or sendmail?

The -f is enabled. I'm using the default method of mail for vBulletin. I haven't changed anything in that regards.
