Blank IP Address

like most sites we're fighting a continual battle to keep out the spammers, so i spend more time than i'd like monitoring new users

i've just had a new user join whose IP address is reported as being blank

anyone else ever encountered such a thing? any explanations as to how it could happen? it's the kind of stuff that always rings alarm bells

(i'm running v3.7.4, patch level 1)

I don't know how it would be possible for some one to have a blank IP. Even if the IP is wrong there would have to be something.

But IPs aren't useful at all when it comes to blocking spammers so it doesn't really matter.
