Uhm...not really. It's all pretty much coded differently.

Not to mention, modifications are installed differently for MyBB.

Anyways, MyBB is regarded as the "vBulletin for people who cannot afford vBulletin."

        Exactly. What Mr. K* said.

MyBB is great software for those who can't use vBulletin.

Yes. You are now known as Mr. K, King Kovifor.

        Mr. K pities the foo.

You may want to read this thread:

It's an older thread but from the looks of it they did at one point steal code.

Though I'll say the code is somewhat inspired by vBulletin code, anyone who knows the vBulletin code base can see that. You might also notice the database schema is so similar that the importer for MyBB took less than an hour to write.

Even though MyBB is a 'look-alike." I was never a huge fan of it, I used it on 3 seperate occasions and wasn't too happy with it. I prefer vBulletin over ANY other software out there, free or paid.

Of course. But, like I said, it's one of the easiest to MOD forum solutions for free users. Remember. Not everyone can afford vBulletin. Just saying. I don't really like MyBB. vBulletin all the way.

                Yes, vBulletin all the way

But for those who can't afford vBulletin, and if I didn't currently have vBulletin, I certainly would be using MyBB

From the free softwares, I would probably use SMF, not MyBB. If I wanted a forum to look like vBulletin, act like it, but actually be like it .. I just get a vB license.

To me, the default look isn't important. It's just the way that it works. And MyBB is what pleases me

forums are forum, with threads, posts, listings, avatars, smilies... i don't see why each software would have to be waaaayyyy different to make a statement.

I never said they had to be "waaaayyyy" different. It just appears they were influenced far too much by the vB design.

Anyway 4.0 will change all of this so it's fine .

This one also is very similar to vBulletin: http://www.molyx.com/

Even it's using the same name of vBulletin pages: forumdisplay, showthread... etc

IT is like NovaBoard and IPB.

NovaBoard is nearly an exact copy (Including Skin) of IPB.
