    Linebreaks in the editor

    Hello,

I keep getting more complaints from users that they loose the linebreaks when editting or quoting a post. How can I disable this because large posts needs to re-enter all the linebreaks! Very very impractical!

    Thanks.

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

    Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

    define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

Do you have the same problem?

Aha the define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true); did the trick.

I don't have that much hooks, but I assume that with this option you only disable the plugins that are listed in:
      "Manage Products"?

I will disable them 1 by 1 and see which 1 is causing trouble.

Edit: I did disable them all, but then the problem occurs again :S

So with define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true); it is fine, but with all plugins disabled it is not.

Are there any other things that are touched by define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true); ?

It disables all plugins as listed in the plugin manager as well as all products in the product manager.

I went through all my plugins, and funny thing :P

It wasn't a plugin but a Product from vBulletin itself.

Realtime Template Compressor was the one that removes all \n in the posts.

          Disabling it resolved the problem.

That is not a vBulletin product. It is a modification from vBulletin.org

I'm having the same kind of issues since upgrade... still need to do some more upgrades but I did a fresh install not too long ago and now some users have to use HTML code to put line breaks into their posts (Including me... ) it's not usergroup specific.

Also the wysywig thingy majig, you can't click on anything at all. So no bold... attachments... nothing www.gnomeocracy.com is the website but it's most frusterating especially since I have a front end portal..
