Poll voting marks threads as unread

My users are complaining about when votes are registered in polls it marks the whole thread as unread. But it really isn't, since there are only a vote and no post. When users are referred to the poll thread when pressing the "New Posts", it's natural to think there are actual new posting(s) there.

I want a poll thread to show as unread only when a new post are made in that thread.

How to fix this?
