(3.7.8.2) Can't log in; bounces back to previous page and logs out immediately

I don't know how else to describe this.

    1) I try to log in.

    2) I get the welcome message.

    3) I'm immediately bounced back to the previous page, and logged out.

Same thing with the admin control panel; I log in, get the welcome screen, and get bounced right back to the admin login page (forums/admincp/) again; not the control panel.

    Clearing cookies doesn't help.

Have you tried deleting all cookies set by vB 3.6.8 pl2, and your cache too?

Okay ... fixed it with the tools.

Remember, in my post, I said I cleared the cookies ...

My admincp worked just fine, but just today started not letting me in.

Im able to login to the forum just fine... and post. But when I go to admincp, it says logged in ... shows sucess.. but then redirects back to the login screen.

Clearing cookies, as mentioned, doesnt help.

          Anyone?

I was able to solve the issue:

            1) Find the 'do not upload' folder that came in your vbulletin zip
            2) upload tools.php to your /install folder
            3) open the file in your browser
            4) run the cookie resetting tools, as well as the 'restore admin' tools...
            5) erase tools.php
            6) login to ur admincp again! yay!

This was probably an issue with Cookie Path and Cookie Domain, and resetting it via tools.php worked.

I had this problem too - trying to login to admincp and just kept getting returned to the login page using the tools.php and resetting the cookie domain worked for me too..
