Display the date when thread was created

What would be the variable for displaying the date/time when thread was first created on forumdisplay page?
I tried $thread['threaddate'] but it doesnt seem to work tried $thread['threaddate] and had no luck with that either.

$thread[dateline] would show the timestamp, I'm not sure if it's actually converted to a readable date though.

It isnt readable, so I am guessing there is no way to create a readable one?

Give these two variables a try:

$thread['postdate']
$thread['posttime']

Do I have to put postdate and posttime bits inside `` because when I do it gives me an error and when I dont nothing happens.
